Easing Headaches from Tooth Pain

Posted on 8/10/2016 by Fady Ebid
A man suffering from a headache caused by tooth pain. When it comes to having pain in one or more teeth, it can leave you with pain that extends far beyond the tooth.

One of the more common causes of headaches is having a toothache that has gone on for an extended period of time.

Since we have so many nerves in our face, if one set is consistently sending signals of pain, it can cause an overload to the head, causing a headache. So what should you do?

Helping Your Head Pain

The first thing you need to do is put a call in to your dentist as soon as you possibly can to get the tooth pain checked out. You do not want to leave that going on any longer than necessary, as it could turn an easily fixable problem into a much larger issue. Next, you need to is make sure the area around your tooth is clean. Brush your teeth gently, like you normally would, and if you can, floss as well.

Taking an over the counter type of pain reliever can help, but some foods are also able to help. Consider placing a little bit of any of these on the area where your tooth hurts, as any of them could help alleviate your tooth and head pain: onion slices, lime or lemon wedges, or garlic.

You can also gargle with a bit of warm salt-water, as that tends to help reduce many types of toothaches and the subsequent headache.

It is important that you take your tooth pain directly to the dentist when it hits. If you cannot get in to see your dentist within a short period of time, these remedies may help. Headaches are common when you are suffering from a toothache, but they do not need to derail your life. Give one of these a try the next time you need it.
